Bahrain marked Police Day on 14 December with a ceremony which showed the role of the police force in maintaining national security and stability, as the Ministry of Interior reported a year of strong operational performance and service improvements.

At the event, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Governor of the Southern Governorate, honoured several security agencies for their coordination and work during 2025.

The ceremony was attended by senior Ministry of Interior officials and officers from across the security services.

The Governor said Bahrain’s security and stability reflect the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the continued oversight of the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, per Bahrain News Agency.

He praised the professionalism, readiness and dedication of police personnel, noting their contribution to protecting society under the guidance of the Minister of Interior, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.

The ceremony included a presentation reviewing key achievements during the year, followed by the recognition of senior officers from departments including Civil Defence, Traffic, Criminal Investigation and the Southern Governorate Police Directorate.

Following the Police Day celebrations, the Ministry of Interior released figures outlining its performance in 2025.

The Ministry said crime rates had fallen to their lowest levels on record, reflecting the success of its security strategy based on modern systems and community partnership.

Civil Defence dealt with about 14,000 cases during the year, while police directorates across the governorates handled nearly 70,000 cases. The Emergency Centre received more than two million calls, operations patrols handled 27,229 cases, and community services recorded close to 10,000 cases.

The Ministry also reported progress in border control and travel services. More than 300,000 electronic passports were issued, and Bahrain ranked fifth in the Arab world on the passport index. Customs procedures were sped up, with infrastructure expanded to handle around 14 million vehicles and 350,000 trucks, reducing average waiting times to 21 minutes.

In international cooperation, Bahrain took part in joint regional and global security operations. The Anti-Narcotics Directorate ranked first at the Arab level for operational intelligence cooperation, while Bahrain maintained its Tier 1 status for combating human trafficking.

The Ministry said it continued to strengthen financial and economic security through the National Strategy to Combat Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing.

It added that training, public awareness and community engagement remained central to its work, alongside ongoing modernisation and the use of advanced technology.
