Fireaway secures Bureau Veritas approvals for Stat‑X systems

  • Fireaway Inc. has received three new certificates from Bureau Veritas
  • The approvals cover global, EU‑flagged and UK‑flagged ships
  • Stat‑X systems are designed for enclosed and special‑hazard areas where compact, non‑conductive fire suppression is needed

Fireaway Inc. has received three new certificates from Bureau Veritas confirming that its Stat‑X condensed aerosol fire‑extinguishing systems meet the standards required for use on vessels regulated under SOLAS.

The approvals cover global, EU‑flagged and UK‑flagged ships.

The company announced that the systems were assessed in line with IMO guidance MSC.1/Circ.1270.

A Bureau Veritas Type Approval Certificate (23277/D1 BV) confirms that Stat‑X meets the requirements of SOLAS 74, the Fire Safety Systems Code, the 1994 and 2000 High‑Speed Craft Codes, and MSC.1/Circ.1270. This certificate is valid until 22 October 2030.

An EC Type Examination Certificate (81823/A0 MED) has also been issued under the EU Marine Equipment Directive, allowing Stat‑X to be used on EU‑flagged vessels through the wheelmark approval route.

It is valid until 8 April 2031.

A separate UK Type‑Examination Certificate (81824/A0 UK), issued under the UK’s Merchant Shipping (Marine Equipment) Regulations 2025 and authorised by the Maritime & Coastguard Agency, is valid through the same date.

The approval covers 15 generator models across the company’s electrical‑activation (E‑series) and thermal‑activation (T‑series) ranges. These were assessed for use in enclosed machinery spaces on board ships. While the certificates confirm that the systems meet the required standards, individual vessel installations will still need approval from classification societies and flag administrations.

Stat‑X systems are designed for enclosed and special‑hazard areas where compact, non‑conductive fire suppression is needed.

They can be used in machinery spaces, control cabinets and other equipment enclosures. With the new EU and UK certificates now added to the global Bureau Veritas approval, Fireaway says Stat‑X is positioned for wider use across SOLAS‑regulated vessels worldwide.
